Welcome to this “great world” called Fannin County Middle School! To our students, this small world is the greatest world they might know right now. Their world includes their home and home life, their teachers, their school culture, their family’s practices, and all their activities. What a great privilege it is for us to be a part of their world; to serve our students, their families, and community. We understand the great responsibility given to us to be a part of; to educationally prepare your children for challenges that will affect their lives, their careers, and their well-being. We want their world to grow and flourish, to meet their hopes and dreams for immediate successes, and to set for them high expectations for success in the future. We will do our very best to accomplish and exceed the goals that ‘together’ we set for our young people.

My name is Keith Nuckolls. I originate from Marietta, Georgia, but have lived most of my life in these blessed mountains. I graduated from Hayesville (NC) High School, attended and graduated from Piedmont College with an undergraduate Major in History, a double minors in Mathematics and Education (1983). I have had the blessed calling to be a high school teacher and coach for twenty years prior to moving into administration in 2004. Western Carolina University is where I received a Masters’ Degree in School Administration, and have since been an Assistant Principal in the Clay County (NC) Schools System – three years at HMS and three years at HHS. I became the High School Principal at Swain County HS in Bryson City, NC and would return to my hometown (2011-2014) to be the Principal at Hayesville High School.   I attempted to retire, but that didn’t last long! In the school year 2015-16, I served as a Middle School administrator at Hayesville Middle School.

My wife and I have been married for 33 years. We are blessed with three great children-Alicia, Bradley, and Caleb, a son-in-law, Christopher and daughter-in-law, McKenzie. We have three grandchildren currently and fourth due soon I am thankful for the opportunity to serve this faculty, your children, and this community. Come be a part of our growth at FCMS!
