I have attended several colleges in order to begin my career in education. First, I attended Young Harris College where I obtained an associate's degree. This is a two year degree in which one fulfills the core curriculum expectations.  Next, I traveled to North Georgia to achieve my bachelor's and master's degrees. These degrees are more specialized toward the area one would like to teach. For example, with me it was middle school subjects. Several years later, I worked toward my specialist degree at Lincoln Memorial College. During this study, I added leadership to my certificate. Finally, I finished my Gifted certificate on line through North Georgia College and University. I wanted to add this area to my certificate in order to help students who need more of a challenge in their educational pursuits.

I spent the first two years of my career in education as a paraprofessional. I learned a lot of skills by observing the teachers I worked under during this time. The next 20 years I have spent teaching reading at the middle school. I have taught both sixth and eighth grade.

I am married to a wonderful man who is a preacher and a business owner. We have four daughters, four sons-in-law and ten grandchildren. Something is always happening in our family. I attend ball games, birthday parties, and lots of church activities. I wouldn't change a thing.
